Thailand's capital Bangkok, which is locally called "Krung Thep" and it means the City of Angels, was established in 1782 by King Rama I. It was then ment to be the capital of Siam. Today Bangkok has kept its traditional charm with a mixture of old cultural heritage and new modern skyscrapers, luxurious hotels, shopping centers, street shoppings, famous Thai food, restaurants, sports, entertainment, etc.

Things to do
- Take a trip to Floating Market, travel around in boat and see a little of what Thai village life is like
- Watch Thai Boxing or Muay Thai. The two main stadiums are Ratchadamnoen Stadium and Lumpini Stadium
- Shopping: Most of the shops, have some amazing discounts, sometimes as much as 80% off. High quality goods can be had in the major shopping centres.
- Enjoy the Night Life: Bangkok is famous around the world for its entertainment and night life
- Spend some time in Lumpini Park, the city’s most popular park

- Wat Mahathat (old temple)
- Wat Pho (large and extensive temple )
- Royal Barge National Museum
- Wat Ratchabophit (this temple is a mixture of local and western styles)
- Pak Khlong Talat (a wholesale market for all kinds of cut flowers and vegetables)
- Wat Suthat and «The Giant Swing» (this temple is noted for its superb 19th century murals in the main chapel)
- Democracy Monument
- The Golden Mount (an artificial hill topped by a gilded pagoda which is 260 feet in height from its base)
- Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple)
- Vimanmek Royal Mansion (the world’s largest building made entirely of golden teak)
- Dusit Zoo (various species of tropical animals)
- China Town
- Princess Mother Memorial Park
- Suan Pakkard Palace (complex of five Thai-style houses which occupies a beautiful garden and houses an important collection of Asian antiques)
